School Essentials Fund
Helping Local Schools Remove Barriers to Learning
At Catamount Womenaid, we believe every student deserves to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. That’s why we established the School Essentials Fund—a renewable grant program providing $500 annually to each of the eight schools in the six communities we serve.

The School Essentials Fund Performance
The School Essentials Fund is designed to empower guidance counselors and school nurses with the resources they need to address immediate, tangible needs for students. With quick access to funds, school staff can purchase smaller, essential items that make a big difference in a student’s daily life. These might include:
- Clothing and shoes
- Coats, hats, and gloves
- Backpacks and lunch boxes
- School supplies
How It Works
Each year, participating schools receive $500 to spend as needed on critical items for their students. This grant ensures that schools can respond quickly and flexibly, eliminating delays for families and helping students feel supported and included in their school community.
Why It Matters
By meeting students’ basic needs, the School Essentials Fund helps reduce barriers to learning, boosts self-esteem, and fosters a sense of belonging. It’s not just about providing items—it’s about giving every child the opportunity to focus on what matters most: their education.
