School Essentials Fund

Helping Local Schools Remove Barriers to Learning

At Catamount Womenaid, we believe every student deserves to thrive, regardless of their circumstances. That’s why we established the School Essentials Fund—a renewable grant program providing up to $500 annually to each of the eight schools in the six communities we serve.

The School Essentials Fund

The School Essentials Fund is designed to empower guidance school staff, such as counselors and school nurses, with the resources they need to address immediate, tangible needs for students. With quick access to funds, school staff can purchase smaller, essential items that make a big difference in a student’s daily life. These might include:

  • Clothing and shoes
  • Coats, hats, and gloves
  • Backpacks and lunch boxes
  • School supplies

How It Works

School staff is welcome to apply for quick, small amounts of financial assistance using the request form. Each year, participating schools can access this assistance to spend on critical items for their students. These grants ensures that schools can respond quickly and flexibly, eliminating delays for families and helping students feel supported and included in their school community. For larger needs, requests should be made using the regular request form on the request help page.

Why It Matters

By meeting students’ basic needs, the School Essentials Fund helps reduce barriers to learning, boosts self-esteem, and fosters a sense of belonging. It’s not just about providing items—it’s about giving every child the opportunity to focus on what matters most: their education.
